Most Natural Stone Countertops made of Granite, Marble, Travertine, Quartzite, Limestone and man-made Quartz slabs are installed in kitchens, fireplace, mantels, restrooms, and ledges. There are cleaning steps you can take to protect and enhance their appearance.
Stone Care of Arizona, LLC the Arizona stone care expert, would like to share 4 tips on keeping your countertops looking awesome!
You will need the following 10 items to properly clean your countertops.
Here are 4 tips on how to maintain your countertops:
STEP-UP BEFOREHAND:
- Begin cleaning your countertop by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) such as chemical resistant gloves and protective eyewear.
- Take the trigger sprayers and write on the outside their respective product type.
- Fill up both trigger sprayers up to the fill line leaving 1 inch to add alkaline and neutral cleaner.
- There are two countertop cleaning methods you should be aware of.
- When cleaning your countertop to "preserve the sealer's" integrity and doing basic cleaning, we recommend that you use neutral cleaner. This preservation method should be used 98% of the time
- When your countertop has a oily film that has marred its appearance, we recommend that you apply alkaline cleaner on the countertop.
Tip #1:
Regularly vacuum the countertop to remove harsh abrasives. If you don’t have a vacuum, then use a very fine microfiber, polypropylene and/or natural fiber countertop brush to sweep off the dry soil.
Tip #2:
Apply neutral or alkaline cleaner generously on the surface of the countertop. Be careful not to allow cleaner to roll off onto the side of your cabinets or floors. Use the brass squeegee to control the solutions. Don't allow the prespray to dry. If it dries be sure to re-apply presrapy on the countertop. The prespray will liquify the oily substances on the countertop.
Tip 3#:
Scrub the surface with a stiff
nylon brush
to break-up the microscopic dried soil that has become embedded on your countertop.Allow the solution to dwell for approximately 10 mins.
Squeegee
the liquified soil whenever possible into the sink or into a puddle. Blot up the excess puddle cleaning compound with terry cloth towels and rinse out the towels in the sink. This is very important, if you use the alkaline cleaner, you will need to neutralize the Alkalinity by applying neutral cleaner after before you blott up the solution. Use terry cloth towels to remove the solution until the countertop is dry to the touch.
Tip 4#:
Countertops can become a breeding ground for germs. It is important that you have dedicated terry cloth that allows you to clean without cross-contamination your countertop. Apply a food grade disinfectant with a trigger sprayer directly on the clean counter-top especially where you wash dishes and prepare food. Use the unsoiled terry cloth towels to absorb the excess. This step is the final step you should use to ensure viruses are not lurching around on your Natural Stone with the potential for creating health issues.
